This historic area of the city has seen a lot of development – both private and public – in recent years and further development is planned or is already underway. It is a good time, therefore, for the people who live and work in the area, to have their say about what they want and what amenities they wish to see included in any future developments.
This autumn Dublin City Council will begin the consultation for the regeneration of the historic areas of Pimlico, Liberties and Grand Canal Harbour/ Basin Lane. The area extends from St James Hospital on the west to Francis Street on the east. The northern boundary is Thomas Street and the southern boundary is Cork Street.
The City Council has appointed a firm of architects, urban designers and community planners to develop a vision for the area, in conjunction with local stakeholders and residents. The vision developed by John Thompson and Partners (JTP) Architects will be included in the Framework Plan for the area and will help form the basis for regeneration.
JTP Architects will organise a comprehensive community engagement programme this autumn to take into account the views, ideas and concerns of local people and the City Council.
The community engagement programme started with three Neighbourhood Workshops. Everyone was welcome to attend.
