Discussions about a redesign of the Schlossplatz in Berlin are going on for years. Should the `Palast der Republik´ from the GDR period be redeveloped or better the old palace `Stadtschloss´ be reconstructed? Should the realisation be left to privat financiers, facing empty public budgets?

Those and related questions were topics of an open communtiy planning weekend organised by John Thompson & Partners, agency of architecture and urban planning, London, and the Berliner MATCH-Entwicklungsberatung (von Zadow) under patronage of the Senat Departement for Urban Building.
